How did Vivi the Supervegan come about? The idea of 'Vivi the Supervegan' came about when I first went vegan 3 years ago! I immediately went online to look for some vegan books for my children. I soon realised that there was a lack of vegan children's books out there which still had an element of fun, mischief and magic in which children love in stories. I bought some educational books but really felt there was a place and a need for a children's story book. So I wrote Vivi the Supervegan, with the hope that it will encourage children to take a stand, empower them to be compassionate and kind. We are just about to launch the second book in my series; Vivi and the Planet Protector on 3rd October. I truly hope that my books will help vegan children and non vegan children understand that we all have power with our choices and in educating and inspiring others to make changes. ![]() "I loved this story and Vivi's mission to be a fierce protector of animals! Her story reminds us that compassion is a true superpower and that we each have the capacity to be real-life heroes to the animals who desperately need us to care more. Vivi's idealism and the charming illustrations reflect a harmony between people and animals that I dream about!" Evanna Lynch - Actress and Activist ![]() "Tina Newman's story book about the adventures of Vivi and the Planet Protector is the most beautiful way to make the problems of the human/animal interaction accessible for children. I had a hard time reading due to teary eyes. Beautiful." Patrik Baboumian - Vegan Strongman

So apart from now trying to get the epic synthesizer intro to the classic 80's song out of my mind, I am busy working away on getting everything ready and in place for the book launch which is only a matter of weeks away now! I took a little break from working at the weekend and took my minivegans to a steam engine museum which is local to us and is always great fun!!! It was good to let my hair down (although to be fair it is usually down!) put my pen and paper down and just enjoy being with my girls, seeing them enjoy themselves... Although, I think it is clear to see who was having the most fun on the carousel...!!! Meanwhile, there may be no steam engines back at Vivi HQ but it's certainly all full steam ahead! Being an indie publisher means you literally have to do everything yourself and as this is my first time writing a book, it has been a real 'learn as you go' job. However, I love a good list and have been a very firm boss with myself methodically working through it and making sure I am on target and where I need to be throughout the whole process. Marketing and promoting is well underway, my website is now up and running, I am in contact with my printers, my illustrator and various other people, gathering reviews, booking stalls at vegan festivals, making arrangements for the launch party and so on! The illustrations are now in the final stages and Holly is currently just working on the final tweaks. I have seen all of the interior spreads and they are absolutely WONDERFUL, I am completely over the moon with them. Seeing the pictures bring my story to life is making it all very real. It is a very exciting time and I cannot wait for the world to finally meet Vivi the Supervegan. xxx Choose love, choose compassion,
